The Amazing Race Philippines on AXN Fan-Made Concept Season 1: “Leg 2/EPISODE 2 (India → Thailand)” [PILOT EPISODE NO. #2] - “Power of the Yield”
PIT STOP: Golden Temple
HOST: “This is Amritsar, India. And here at Amritsar lies the Golden Temple. This ‘Golden Temple’ or in Hindi ‘Harmandir Sahib’ meaning the ‘house of god’ will serve as the start of the 2nd leg of ‘The Amazing Race Philippines’ .”
HOST: “Teams will move to Bangkok, Thailand from India for the ‘pit start’ ...”
PIT START: Wat Niwet Thammaprawat (Bangkok, Thailand)
HOST: “... at Wat Niwet Thammaprawat. Because the team was the first team to arrive, that team will depart at this required time.”
CLUE: “ROUTE INFO: Welcome to Thailand! Make your way to Bo Ngoen Pla Pao Restaurant to find your next clue.”
PROCEED TO: Bo Ngoen Pla Pao Restaurant
HOST: “Teams must travel by taxi to Bo Ngoen Pla Pao Restaurant where they’ll find their next clue.”
HOST: “A ‘Roadblock’ is a task that requires one team member to perform, ...”
ROADBLOCK: “Who’s got a taste for adventure?”
HOST: “... in this Roadblock that team member must eat a bowl of one of Thailand’s after-school activity: ‘stir-fried crickets and grasshoppers’, ...”
PROCEED TO: Golden Mount Temple
HOST: “... 30-minute or 60-minute (1 hour) digital timer, their digital timers will give teams the power to stop another team racing for 30 or 60 minutes when they encounter a ‘Yield’ during the Race: ‘the power of the Yield can be used to stop a team in their tracks, dramatically affecting the outcome of the Race’; once they find the timers they needed they can get their next clue.”
HOST: “A ‘Detour’ is a choice between two tasks each has its own pros and cons. ...”
HOST: “... In this Detour, teams must choose between: ‘Bacon’ or ‘Eggs’ .”
DETOUR: “Bacon”
HOST: “In ‘Bacon’, teams had to find marked tuk-tuks on Larn Luang Road and then direct their tuk-tuk drivers to drive them to a nearby Pig Monument ...”
HOST: “... to get their next clue (teams were allowed to seek directions from locals but could not get assistance from the driver).”
DETOUR: “Eggs”
HOST: “In ‘Eggs’, teams had to travel to Pak Khlong Talat, find an egg store on Asadang Road, and deliver 20 trays of eggs by using a wheeler to a nearby egg stall without breaking the eggs to receive their next clue.”
PIT STOP: Wat Pho
HOST: “Teams must make their way by taxi to the pit stop at ‘Wat Pho’, ‘Wat Pho’ is best known for Thailand’s largest ‘Reclining Buddha’ which is 46 meters long and 15 meters high, and it’s now the 2nd Pit Stop of the Race. The last team to check in here may be eliminated.”
BEHIND-THE-SCENES:
Well, way back in Season 32 of “The Amazing Race (USA/US)” we have the Yield back since it was last seen in Season 11 (All Stars) ...
... so I’m making new twists for the Yield in my design leg rather than hourglasses, I was thinking of digital timer clocks for the upcoming Yield with 30 minutes or 60 minutes (1 hour) digital timers instead of 10 minutes or 20 minutes hourglasses.
The “eating fried crickets and grasshoppers” Roadblock task (“Who's got a taste for adventure?”) was actually ...
... a recycled task from Season 9 of TAR: USA/US’ Fast Forward task: “Eat Crickets & Grasshoppers” at the same restaurant in “Bo Ngoen Pla Pao Restaurant” ...
... I also featured Tyler MacNiven as a cameo (not really, it’s actually made up for this fan-made design leg concept) in this Roadblock task as part of the “eating fried crickets and grasshoppers” thing, the Roadblock question title: "Who's got a taste for adventure?" is named after a Roadblock task from Season 14, Leg 10.2 of “The Amazing Race” in Beijing, China at Donghuamen Night Market where they have to eat exotic Chinese street food (“Eat Street Food”) which is: *grasshoppers, *beetle larvae, *scorpion, and *starfish.
Some of the recycled locations and the Detour task options in Bangkok are actually from Season 1 of “The Amazing Race Asia” (Leg 7/Episode 7: “New Zealand → Singapore → Thailand”): ...
... Golden Mount Temple (Wat Saket – Golden Mount) for the task's location on finding digital timers for the upcoming Yield ...
... same tasks and same locations for the Detour from Season 1 of TAR: Asia (*NOTE: This is one of my favorite Detour of TARA 1!) ...
... and also TARA1’s Leg 7 pit stop: “Wat Pho” as a recycled Pit Stop location for my Season 1 fan-made concept for “The Amazing Race Philippines on AXN”.
Well, I'm not sure if I will make more episodes/legs for “The Amazing Race Philippines on AXN” 1st Revival Concept in the future because these are just two pilot episodes with Amritsar, India for Leg 1 and Bangkok, Thailand for Leg 2 ...
... and also I'm working on a new TAR project concept called: “The Amazing Race: Pinoy Rush” in association with GMA Network (GMA 7) and AXN next year, which focuses on teams from all over the world and The Philippines (host) to “race across The Philippines” for US$100,000 (for international winning teams) or ₱1,000,000/₱1 Million (for Philippine winning teams) and more; ...
... this is actually based on a format in China called
“The Amazing Race: China Rush/极速前进:冲刺!”, ...
... well I didn't like TV5’s version of “The Amazing Race Philippines” because of its over-recycled tasks, its horrible TARP/TARPH envelope logo/text design, and the host Derek Ramsay was not suitable or perfect as host
for TAR: Philippines; ...
... for the concept for "The Amazing Race: Pinoy Rush", I want something to be like or influenced/inspired by “The Amazing Race Canada” that has 100% original/self-made tasks based on our culture and facts here in The Philippines but not recycled task(s) in other versions of TAR (because TARCanada has 100% self-made tasks based on their culture in Canada) while TARCR a bit
50%-75% inspired. ...
... I'm not sure if I'm making more episodes of my concept: "The Amazing Race Philippines on AXN" in the future, but I'm giving you a preview of my upcoming legs for this concept in the future: Vietnam for Legs 3-4, South Africa for Leg 5, France for Leg 6, United Kingdom for Leg 7, Germany for Leg 8, Italy for Legs 9-10, Japan for Leg 11, and finally The Philippines for the final leg (Leg 12).
*ADDITIONAL NOTE: Originally this episode’s title was supposed to be “Power to Yield”, but changed to “Power of the Yield” instead to explain how the "Yield" is used in the game.
